What work is occurring at The Wollongong Hospital?
Two Inpatient Units (IPU’s) will be refurbished for the provision of high acuity Aged Care and Rehabilitation Services at Wollongong Hospital.
Once refurbished, the IPU’s will be contemporary health facilities for the delivery of aged care and rehabilitation services.

Where will these works occur?
The refurbishments for the rehabilitation services will take place at Ward C6 West and will include:
  • enhanced Activities of Daily Living facilities to be collocated with the ward; and
  • a dedicated rehabilitation gym.
The palliative care works will occur on Ward C7 East and will include:
  • full redesign and rebuild of the existing floor layout and patient rooms to meet current Australian Health Facility Guidelines; and
  • provision of patient and family support areas.
How long will these works take to complete at Wollongong Hospital?
It is expected work will be completed in 2023.

Will services at the Hospital be impacted?
Wollongong Hospital will remain fully operational during the works.

What are these works costing?
The project will be funded and managed as part of the more than $700 million New Shellharbour Hospital and Integrated Health Services project.
